Janowski spoke out after the accident and red card. "Those who watched know"
Just before the planned start of Friday's 8th round of PGE Ekstraliga, a downpour passed over the stadium. When the rain stopped, the track, despite being previously covered with a tarpaulin, was soaked. The players from both teams were reluctant to race, but referee Bartosz Ignaszewski ordered the start of the competition.
It was possible to drive on the inside, but every time you went over the edge you risked getting stuck in a large layer of goo and having a dangerous fall.
In the fourth race, when the hosts were riding with a double lead, Bartłomiej Kowalski entered the second bend uncertainly and wide, and then fell. He was in no hurry to get up from the track, so the referee had to stop the race and gave the Wrocław rider a red card for unsportsmanlike conduct.
In the following races we also saw falls, even after crossing the finish line, which emphasized that the surface caused huge problems for the speedway riders. When Kacper Woryna crashed into the inflatable barrier in the 8th race, it took 20 minutes to repair it due to a large layer of mud!
Because the crash occurred on the first bend, all three riders were allowed to retake the race (Kowalski was excluded). The lonely Sparta ace, Artiom Łaguta, rode second for a long time, but gained speed, and finally attacked Woryna at the beginning of the last lap. However, he rode too wide on the bend, hit the goo, and was thrown off the bike.
Although he returned to the parking lot on his own, trainer Dariusz Śledź did not let him out on the track again. After two starts, he also withdrew junior Nikodem Mikołajczyk, who was complaining of pain.
The Swede rammed Janowski. He couldn't stand it.The greatly weakened Sparta was unable to establish a balanced duel with Włókniarz. Before the nominated races (46:31) it was already certain that two points would remain at Jasna Góra.
In the 14th race, however, the best start was made by the captain of Betard Sparta, Maciej Janowski. While he was confidently leading, he suddenly lost control of his motorcycle in a bend, driven by Philip Hellstroem-Baengs. The Swede centrally crashed his machine into the rear wheel of the Pole's motorcycle. Janowski did not expect this at all. He flew over the handlebars and fell dangerously onto the track.
When he came to and was already sitting on the trailer that the security service was supposed to take him to the machine park, he was approached by the competition commissioner, Tomasz Walczak. Furious, Janowski got into a squabble with him. He uttered a few vulgarities and then threw a glove at him.
Referee Ignaszewski, after watching the replays, showed him a red card and ended the match.
— Would anyone be able to write a script for today's match? I don't think so. Those who watched it know, so I'll leave it without comment. But I invite you to the discussion — Janowski summed up on Instagram.
He also reassured Sparta fans about his health after the accident.
— There's no drama with the leg, it's swollen fine. Thanks for the news — he finished.
